Our exciting Research Department opened in January 2017 and is led by Dr Esther Mugweni.
Esther brings with her a wealth of research knowledge and experience. She has designed and managed health research projects across the UK and Africa. She was an honorary lecturer on the online Masters in Public Health at the University of Liverpool for six years, where she was the subject matter expert on the Monitoring and Evaluation of Systems and Programmes module and the Health Protection-Preventing and Managing Communicable Diseases module. Esther has published several research papers.
Esther developed the research strategy for the iHV in 2017. This identified nine key strategic goals to provide a clear pathway for growth of high-quality research at the iHV to develop evidence-based practice and contribute to family and child health. The research strategy will be updated in 2022.
Working alongside Esther are:
- Professor Sally Kendall MBE: Professor of Community Nursing and Public Health at the University of Kent, Sally Kendall is part of the research team. Her expertise is on parenting and the impact on child health in the UK and internationally.
- Melita Walker: Mental Health Lead at the iHV, Melita is a member of the research team. Melita sits on the NHS England Strategic Board for perinatal mental health. The iHV Perinatal Mental Health Champions Project has been successfully delivered by Melita.
