The Institute of Health Visiting has been established as a charity to improve the quality and consistency of health visiting support to children, families and communities.
Every year around 700,000 babies are born in the UK and it is essential that each and every one has the best chance of a healthy and productive life.
Health visitors have a background in nursing and/or midwifery prior to taking additional qualifications at degree or Masters level in public health. Their work is targeted to improving the public’s health where you live as the service is universal and non-discriminatory. They work through direct one-to-one contact with children, families and communities in the home or community venues.
The Institute of Health Visiting receives no core funding from the Government or the NHS. What we can achieve will be determined by the income we can raise ourselves. Please help us by making a donation which will go directly, via improving health visitor activities, to improving the lives of children and families, especially those living with disadvantage.
