The aim of this project was to create an engagement programme built around a film on fathers’ perinatal mental illness, including depression and anxiety. The project was funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing and co-designed with health professionals, as well as fathers and partners with a lived experience of perinatal mental illnesses.
The Institute of Health Visiting worked with INNER EYE Productions to create a 20-minute film for health visitors and their teams to raise awareness of fathers’ mental health in the perinatal period. The film will be used to create a platform for reflection on the psychology and emotions of fathers going through perinatal illness and to be used as a companion piece to the multi-award-winning film, Beyond Baby Blue, on mothers’ postnatal depression.
