Based on an original idea by Dr Sharin Baldwin and Chris Godwin, Invisible is a powerful new film launched by the Institute of Health Visiting in 2025, to raise awareness of the complex interplay of factors that impact men in the transition to fatherhood.
The film, funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing, has been produced in collaboration with Inner Eye Productions and is based on extensive academic research, interviews with practitioners, and impactful lived experience accounts from a diverse range of fathers and parents.
As founder and creative director of Inner Eye Productions, Chris brings a unique approach to culture change through the powerful medium of film. As a leading academic and researcher in the field of fathers’ mental health, Sharin brings a robust evidence base of this often-overlooked public health issue. Together, they hope that Invisible will engage hearts and behaviours so that services, systems and society become more inclusive and supportive of new fathers and all babies, children and families get the best start in life.
The film can be used as a standalone impact piece, or as part of a training programme for services working with families around the time of birth and early parenthood.
