iHV Professional Development Officer, Learning & Development department

Are you:

  • An experienced health visitor with experience of teaching in health visiting and
    0-5 public health practice?
  • An excellent communicator, motivated to deliver high-quality training events across multi-agency groups to improve practice and professional development?
  • An energetic team member, a confident self-starter who is able to work remotely across a range of activity each week?

This is an excellent opportunity to join iHV as the new Professional Development Officer to support the future delivery of the iHV’s highly rated training programmes and learning resources. Provision of national training is an important function of the work undertaken by the Institute. We have a reputation for delivery of perinatal and infant mental health programmes, however our portfolio is much broader and includes other key areas of learning which we are seeking support to deliver. Our current training portfolio is here and is continually evolving.

This is a brand-new position at the iHV. This post will work closely with the iHV Professional Education, Learning & Development Lead, the Learning & Development team, and across the Institute of Health Visiting to support our delivery of sustainable and high-quality continuing professional development for the workforce. The successful applicant will be highly respected by colleagues for their capacity to deliver professional development and will have a track record of teaching learning programmes.

iHV Professional Development Officer – PIMH

This is an excellent opportunity to join iHV as a Professional Development Officer, PIMH to support the future delivery of the iHV’s highly rated mental health portfolio, including training and involvement in research and practice development projects.

This post is a one-year fixed-term maternity cover. The successful postholder will work closely with the iHV PIMH Lead and the Innovation & Research and Learning & Development teams, and across the Institute of Health Visiting, to support our delivery of sustainable and high-quality continuing professional development for the workforce.

Professional Development Officer – Perinatal and Infant Mental Health

The iHV is seeking to appoint a Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH) Professional Development Officer to join its existing well-established mental health team. The successful post holder will be an NMC registrant (nurse, midwife or health visitor) with additional knowledge and experience in the field of perinatal mental health and a proven track record of experience of training delivery. This exciting opportunity is offered to grow the capacity of the existing team and provide an opportunity for the right candidate to develop their career with experience of working for the Institute.

As Professional Development Officer – PIMH, you will work as part of the iHV Mental Health team and act as the lead trainer (working with a co-trainer) delivering specific PIMH training events for multi-agency and uni-professional audiences. You will prioritise the quality of participant learning and ensure these events are delivered to the highest standard to meet our contractual obligations to our stakeholders (commissioners, grant funding bodies and individual participants).

As Professional Development Officer – PIMH you will:

  • Be home-based and work remotely with the iHV Mental Health and Training Teams to deliver high quality virtual training events (with tech support).
  • Deliver in-person training events on occasion and support iHV conferences – this will entail some travel and overnight stays.
  • Participate in any opportunities that arise to represent iHV at national mental health meetings and potentially support projects and practice developments within the team that require mental health expertise or peer review.

This post will offer the right candidate a unique opportunity to develop further in the field of perinatal and infant mental health working with a fabulous, respected team delivering acclaimed training programmes at a national level. The Institute offers a competitive pension scheme.

Professional Development Officer: Perinatal and Infant Mental Health

The iHV is seeking to appoint a Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH), Professional Development Officer.
The successful post holder will be a health visitor expert in perinatal and infant mental health and will support the iHV Mental Health Department workstream.

The post holder will be home based but, as restrictions ease, they should be prepared to travel mostly within the UK, but potentially also internationally. They will ideally be an iHV PIMH Champion and/or a specialist health visitor for PIMH, have broad experience in these fields, with additional research, or project development experience. A proven track record in delivering high quality PIMH training, both virtually and face-to-face, is essential.

A confident self-starter, they will deliver training to multi-agency audiences, attend national and regional PIMH meetings, deliver UK-wide regional Forums for our PIMH Champions and input advice to other iHV work streams on request.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated leader, who is passionate about perinatal and infant mental health – an individual who is confident to drive and deliver positive change to enable good family mental health and wellbeing.

This post is for one year in the first instance with a definite expectation of extension, a job share would be considered. The Institute offers a competitive pension scheme.

Since we advertised the opportunity to come and join team iHV, we have had some changes to the iHV team. As a result, we are now able to offer the Professional Development Officer PIMH post as a permanent job. Furthermore, there is not a preference to being based in the South.

The post holder, who will have a masters’ degree, will preferably be based in the South of England and will be prepared to travel within the post, mostly within the UK, but potentially also to European countries. They will ideally be an iHV infant and perinatal mental health (PIMH) champion or a specialist health visitor for PIMH, have broad experience in these fields, with additional research, or project development experience.

A confident self-starter, they will deliver the requirements of our European project, training, attend meetings, develop regional forums for our PIMH champions and input advice to other workstreams on request.

The post holder will be highly respected by colleagues for their capacity to drive and deliver local professional developments.

1 year post in the first instance with a definite expectation of extension, a job share would be considered.  The Institute offers a competitive pension scheme.

Professional Development Officer, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, South of England

The iHV is seeking to appoint health visitor expert in perinatal and infant mental health and practice development to work with them supporting training and various other related projects, as well as covering some national meetings. The post holder will be up to full time but could be 4 days, we would also consider a job share if the post holders were based in different areas of the country.

The post holder, who will have a master’s degree, will ideally be based in the South of England but this isn’t essential and will be prepared to travel within the post, mostly within the UK, but potentially also to European countries. They will ideally be an iHV infant and perinatal mental health champion, have broad experience in these fields, with additional research or project development experience.

A confident self-starter, they will deliver training, attend meetings, develop regional forums for our PIMH Champions and input advice to other work streams on request including to a European project just funded.

The post holder will be highly respected by colleagues for their capacity to drive and deliver local professional developments.

1-year post/secondment in the first instance with expectation of extension.  The Institute offers a competitive pension scheme.
