iHV welcomes Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On report

25th February 2020

iHV welcomes the publication of the Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On report (#Marmot2020).

The #Marmot2020 report shows that, for the first time in more than 100 years, life expectancy has failed to increase across the country and for the poorest 10% of women it has actually declined. Over the last decade health inequalities have widened overall, and the amount of time people spend in poor health has increased since 2010.

Commenting on the launch of Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On, Dr Cheryll Adams CBE, Executive Director of the iHV, said:

“Our recent iHV State of Health Visiting report made clear the effects of austerity on the health and wellbeing of children and their families. We hope that the government will respond to the new Marmot Review 10 Years On report recommendations and give every child the opportunity to have a good start in life. Investing in children is investing in the country’s future.”
