Best Beginnings need your help on 5th June

9th May 2014

Best Beginnings, the charity that produced the highly-acclaimed and widely-used film resources ‘From Bump to Breastfeeding’ and ‘Small Wonders’, are making a series of films about maternal mental health. To create evidence based films based on needs and focused on families they need expert input from Health Visitors.

Up to 10% of women will suffer from mental health issues during pregnancy or in the year after birth, and this can have a devastating impact on women, their babies, partners and families. However, with the right information, health professionals and families can make a real difference. Best Beginnings wants to work with Health Visitors to create films that will empower parents, support the early identification of mental health problems and prevent many of the negative effects on families.

If you want to get involved in this exciting project Best Beginnings are organising a ‘Stakeholder Day’ on the 5th June in central London. You’ll get a chance to influence the tone and content of the films and your expertise will ensure the films have the maximum reach and impact.

We are keen to know what you feel the common themes are and how they should be represented on film. We want the films to be used by Health Visitors to explore the issues with parents, what are the key ‘touch points’, what topics would be useful for you? We also want the films to be used in training and development, how can these films increase the confidence and competence of the workforce?
