Due to popular demand, the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) is delighted to offer a new bespoke professional development programme – the iHV Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor Development Programme.

The NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (NMC 2019, updated 2023) stipulate that SCPHN student health visitors are supervised and assessed by designated practice assessors and supervisors.

These professionals must undertake appropriate preparation to equip them for their responsibilities of supporting and facilitating the professional development of student health visitors. They hold a critical role in ensuring that students meet the required NMC Standards of Proficiency for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (NMC 2022), enabling them to commence professional practice safely and effectively as registered SCPHN health visitors.

This bespoke programme has been developed by the iHV to support health visitors in this important role.
