iHV Genomics Ambassador Programme

Aim
The iHV Genomics Ambassadors programme will equip health visitors with the knowledge to apply and promote genomics within health visiting practice in their local area.
Objectives
Following training the Ambassadors will:
- be equipped to be place-based leaders raising awareness of genomics in their local area and connecting with wider genomic provision in the NHS.
- be able to describe the importance of genomics as part of the NMC standards of professional practice related to health visiting.
- have the knowledge and awareness of genomics to support working effectively with families across their care pathway.
- be able to utilise tools and further learning resources to support ongoing CPD on genomics.
- be able to explain the role of the GMSA to support the workforce in practice.

Time: 09:00-16:30 via Zoom
We are delighted to announce three training events in Spring 2025. These will align to specific Genomics Medicine Service Alliance areas in England (thanks to funding by NHS England these events will be offered without charge to those attending). We will be connecting with services in the first three areas with dates for health visitors to pick up one of a number of limited places in February and March 2025. Don’t miss out – respond early if you are lucky enough to hear from us!

We can also be commissioned to deliver a private event solely for your local area where funding allows – this can be a virtual (online) training event delivered via Zoom or an in-person training event.
