Hello all.
It is a bit old now (2009) but I did write a book on Skill Mix in Community Nursing Teams Principles into Practice when I worked at the CPHVA see herehttp://www.cairnsbookshop.co.uk/product/1003/skill_mix_in_health_visiting_and_community_nursing_teams_principles_into_practice. The principles remain the same even if the policy landscape has changed. The book was written in response to the skill mix in health visiting teams to ensure safe practice.

Thanks Maggie, I had not seen this before.

Hello, we have always had leaflet packs for universal contact then an ‘extra’ pack for all of the other care package contacts. However, due to leaflet overload next week I am launching a newly designed ‘leaflet’ which we will give out at the first contact with a family. It guides parents to the main sources of information listed either from the PCHR, iHV, DOH guidance etc. It also lists the titles of leaflets that parents can access through their health visitor and are available at clinics (Fleur Seekins – Clinical Lead Cambridgeshire)

We have been providing a 3 to 4 month home visit for all UP contacts for some time now meeting 95% of all UP families. However, it is difficult to maintain this in addition to meeting the demand of the HcP KPI’s. Like you we provide a introducing solids workshop in partnership with LA which evaluates well by our service users – Cambridgeshire (Fleur Seekins Clinical Lead)

Many thanks Kate – all help is appreciated

Hi, we have done some work in Newcastle around band 5’s in health visiting. Sharin Baldwin & Teresa Bishop kindly sent me copies of competency frameworks that they had developed for this area. We also had a standard (some years ago) around delegation. I will look these out and email them to you.

Thanks Kate and Maggie for your tips

Hi Kate
Thanks for your response. Do you have a list of the leaflets you use for the HCP contacts as this is something the trust I am working in is working on please? My email address is [email protected]
Many thanks

I recently had a meeting with our Director of Nursing and one of her Heads of Nursing at 8am – not my best time of day. So, I sang all the way to work – it warmed me up both orally and mentally . We had a very successful meeting!!

Hi we do in Newcastle, we have packs made up for our core contacts so we just pick them up pre visit. We then add to that – often from the Solihull Approach resource pack, depending on what the issue is.
