As a Health Visitor trained 3 years ago under the implementation plan in Birmingham. We did not have any training at university on Examination of the newborn. However, we did receive some training from the trust (BCHC). The session was very similar to the training I received as a midwife. A head to toe examination to identify any anomalies and looking for a healthy baby that handles well. As well as asking mom about concerns feeding, urine output and bowel frequency.
