Professional Development Officer, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, ideally based South of England

The iHV is seeking to appoint a full-time health visitor expert in perinatal and infant mental health and practice development to work with them supporting their European project, training and various other related projects, as well as covering some national meetings, a job share would be considered.

The post holder, who will have a masters’ degree, will preferably be based in the South of England and will be prepared to travel within the post, mostly within the UK, but potentially also to European countries. They will ideally be an iHV infant and perinatal mental health (PIMH) champion or a specialist health visitor for PIMH, have broad experience in these fields, with additional research, or project development experience.

A confident self-starter, they will deliver the requirements of our European project, training, attend meetings, develop regional forums for our PIMH champions and input advice to other workstreams on request.

The post holder will be highly respected by colleagues for their capacity to drive and deliver local professional developments.

1 year post in the first instance with a definite expectation of extension, a job share would be considered.  The Institute offers a competitive pension scheme.

PHE SLC Health Visitor Sessional Trainer Band 7 Secondment Opportunity – closing date midnight on 11 Nov 2020

The National Nursing, Midwifery and Early Years directorate in Public Health England (PHE) is looking to recruit Health Visitor Sessional Trainers, on a band 7 secondment opportunity, as part of the PHE Best Start in Speech Language and Communication (SLC) Programme.

They are seeking applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals who will focus on the coordination and delivery of virtual training to frontline health visitors and early years practitioners across England, focusing on the use of a new early language identification measure and intervention and provide feedback to national leads.

The roles will support the dissemination of a package of new guidance and materials aimed at supporting speech, language and communication development locally.

The role: To deliver national training sessions to health visiting teams and early years practitioners on the use of a new SLC early language identification measure and intervention for the 2-2.5 year review.

Essential to apply: Has previously completed the PHE/DfE speech, language and communication 1 day train-the-trainer programme from the Institute of Health Visiting (between 2018 and 2019), and was involved in cascading the speech, language and communication training.

Working days: 1-3 a month

The iHV is seeking to appoint a part-time (2 days a week) Project Support Officer to support the team in delivery of commissioned projects within time, budget and to a high standard.  The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks including communicating with stakeholders, assisting with and delivery of current and new projects, and working as part of a vibrant team.

The post holder will be based in the Institute’s Emsworth admin office.

The right person will be an experienced administrator/ project support, a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision to tight deadlines.  They will have excellent keyboard, organisation and communication skills.

Applications are invited for a Research Associate at the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) for a fixed term period of ten months. The post is available from early March, following successful appointment. The research is funded by Health Education England (HEE) working across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Applications are invited from highly motivated researchers with an interest in public health, doctor-patient communication, behaviour change, implementation science and/or health services research to join the iHV as a research associate. The post holder will join the research team to work on the, “Improving the delivery of different news study 2”. This study follows the feasibility study which was completed in 2019. It is an applied research study involving both families and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) to establish best practices for delivering different news to families. “Different news” describes the process of imparting information relating to an unborn child or a newborn having a condition associated with a learning disability. This mixed-methods study aims to expand on the findings of the feasibility study and to develop, deliver and evaluate a training intervention to improve the process of delivering different news to families. The post holder, who will have a doctorate relevant to requirements of the post, will be based in Kent or Essex and will be prepared to travel within their post.

The main areas of focus of this award-winning organisation are on research, education, quality assurance, leadership and partnership work which come together to develop practice in health visiting.  However, we also have a significant social media and online presence which reaches very many others who either work with health visitors, are parents or are interested in learning about the work of the Institute. The iHV is seeking to appoint two new trustees who have expertise in either:

The new Trustees will be passionate about the importance of investing support at the start of life to improve every child’s outcomes and will be experienced professionals in their fields. Previous experience in the charity sector would be helpful but not essential.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the iHV professional Team.  If you are an ambitious health visitor who has experience of successfully delivering practice projects then this may be the post for you.

You will be educated to master’s degree level or equivalent with a good understanding of current practice. You will be home based, but expected to regularly go to the Institute’s southern office near Portsmouth (Emsworth). You must also be able to travel across England to meet the needs of the post.

You will be dynamic, proactive, flexible and have the ability to work independently and have experience as a trainer. You will provide day to day project coordination of Institute funded projects.  Reporting to the iHV Projects and Evaluation Lead, the postholder will work closely with the iHV Training Programme Manager, Projects Administrator and Administrative Team, iHV Communications Lead and iHV Professional Team.

The post will suit candidates who want to experience working nationally with the Institute and will provide excellent experience for a growing CV.

Project Coordinator: 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment, full time 37 hours per week in the first instance: January 2019 – December 2019.

We are seeking two ambitious health visitor trainers to be part of a North and a South of England training team. You will be an experienced practice educator and able to confidently deliver formal training to groups of professionals, primarily health visitors.

The iHV has been commissioned by Public Health England to deliver train the trainer training on Speech, Language and Communication (SLC) to health visitors across England. To support this, we are establishing two training teams each made up of a health visitor and a speech and language therapist to deliver the training in training sites spread across England.   The post holder(s) will ensure training is delivered to the highest standard, supporting our evaluation and a consistent professional approach to delivery.

You will be home based, but able to travel across England with the likelihood of many overnight stays.
