The Foundation of Nursing Studies (FoNS) is delighted to announce an exciting development opportunity for a registered nurse, midwife or health visitor who is committed to developing person-centred cultures of care. The 2014 Richard Tompkins scholarship is open to practitioners who are working clinically in any healthcare setting UK-wide, and is targeting in particular, those at ward sister level or equivalent.
The scholarship includes:
- Attendance at a 5-day residential international practice development school (21st-25th July 2014) (see http://www.fons.org/resources/documents/Events-Info-for-Upload/Foundation-Practice-Development-Summer-School-Flyer-final-2014.pdf).
- The scholarship covers the cost of the course fee, accommodation, food and reasonable travel expenses. FoNS has been involved in these schools for more than 10 years and believes that they enable individuals to gain knowledge and skills to facilitate the development of more person-centred cultures of care
- Opportunity to work towards academic accreditation as a distance learner (20 CAT points at level 6) from Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent
- 12 months mentorship from FoNS to support an innovation in practice
- Opportunity to work towards publishing a paper in the International Practice Development Journal (see http://www.fons.org/library/journal.aspx) as a novice writer
- Honorary FoNS Associate registration for 12 months
Application process:
- Submission of full application before closing date – 5pm on 14th April 2014
- Shortlisting – Each application is carefully considered and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 23rd April 2014
- Telephone interviews with shortlisted applicants – week commencing 28th April 2014 Scholarship awarded and winner announced – 12th May 2014 to celebrate International Nurses Day
