GPP - Supporting families following a traumatic event
More than two thirds of children will experience at least one traumatic event by 16 years of age.
Like adults, all children will react in different ways to a traumatic event and how they react may also depend slightly on their age and developmental stage.
Queensland Government - Recovering together after a natural disaster
The Queensland Centre for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health has developed a suite of mental health promotion and prevention resources for supporting recovery and building resilience in the context of disasters. The resources are for pregnancy and early parenting, and for infants and young children. There are children’s storybooks to support children who have experienced different disasters.
