Join us on Thursday 16 July 2026 where our iHV Insights Webinar will explore Safer Sleep, 15:30-16:30 (join from 3:15pm to allow a prompt start).
This is open to all iHV members.
With safer sleep continuing to receive significant media attention, it remains critical that families receive clear, consistent, trusted advice and support to adopt safer sleep practice.
Health visitors and their teams play a crucial role in the prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) by building trusted relationships with families and providing ongoing, evidence-based and non‑judgemental safer sleep advice, that is understood, reinforced over time and tailored to each family’s circumstances.
Dr Michelle Moseley, iHV Director of Programmes (Learning and Development), will chair the session. We will hear presentations from:
- Sally Shearer OBE, Child Safeguarding Review Panel, who will share findings on the rates of unsafe sleep practices featuring in child deaths.
- Natalie Mckie, Policy and Research Manager, The Lullaby Trust, who will provide a valuable update on current research and guidance.
- Pippa Martin, Clinical Service Manager, 0-19 Children’s Community Services, Derbyshire Community Health Services, who will share the multiagency work in Derbyshire to support safer sleep through behaviour change.
This webinar aims to highlight the importance of coordinated, evidence-based approaches and the pivotal role of health visiting services in safeguarding babies and supporting families to give every baby the safest possible start.
