We are delighted to share this Voices blog, written by CAMHS Digital Clinical Team at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, on their new social media parenting platform – read on to find out more.
A new social media parenting platform has been developed in collaboration with South London parents and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
‘The Parenting Space’ provides easily accessible advice and tips that support child and family wellbeing. Posting across both Facebook and Instagram channels, the service seeks to increase engagement to mental health services amongst parents and caregivers.
The Digital Clinical Team at South London and Maudsley CAMH services has collaborated with research colleagues at King’s College London and over 60 local parents, who played a crucial role in shaping the platform’s appearance, content, format, and language, making sure it is engaging, practical, and parent friendly.
Resources are co-produced with parents and cover topics such as becoming a new parent, parental mental health, child behaviour and wellbeing, parenting a child with autism, dad-specific content, co-parenting and single parenting. The content is informed by evidence-based parenting interventions alongside the real-life experiences of parents.
‘The Parenting Space’ is designed to embrace the diverse personal, family, social, and cultural experiences of parents and caregivers and seeks to make reliable and effective parenting advice easily available to all – please share the links below:
