Accidents often happen when there’s a lot going on and, with family life busier than ever, it can be a challenge to find time for safety. But even quick, simple changes can prevent the most serious accidents.
That’s why this year, the theme for Child Safety Week is Safety Made Simple, focusing on the practical, simple things that we can all do to keep children safe.
We understand there are real pressures on health visiting teams at the moment. With that in mind, we’ve made it simpler than ever for you to get involved with Child Safety Week and share valuable safety advice with families.
Everything you need, all in one place
We’re delighted to share our brand new resource centre with you, making it quicker and easier than ever to find free printed and downloadable safety resources, all in one place.
You can search by safety topic or resource type, so however you share information with families, you can find what you need to support Child Safety Week, including:
For practitioners:
- Display materials
- Factsheets full of simple tips and advice for parents and carers
- Translated factsheets
- Session plans and videos to help you deliver group activities.
For families:
- A Parents’ pack, full of bite-sized information and simple safety tips
- Activity sheets for children and their families.
Brand new dog safety advice
The bond between a child and a dog can bring fun and happiness to family life. However, it’s important for families to think about how to keep children safe around dogs at home when welcoming their new baby and as their child grows.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Department for Environmental Food and Rural Affairs, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, the Dogs Trust and the RSPCA to develop safety advice and two brand new factsheets to share with families: Your dog and your new baby and Safety around dogs.
