The London regional iHV conference has come to an end, although it is only the beginning of a journey for many of us who attended, and who have left feeling inspired, motivated, refreshed and ready to continue in the hard work of making a difference to the children and families with whom we come into contact with on a daily basis.

As a newly-qualified health visitor, the conference was an invaluable resource where I was able to network with fellow health visitors and, through discussions with them, learn from their knowledge and experience and discuss tools which I will be able to use to develop my own skills in the job.

The Masterclasses (I attended – Using the e-community of practice hub and developing my CPD) were outstanding. I was able to discover practical tools and resources which I have taken away and will be part of helping me provide up to date evidence-based information to families and will assist me in planning, developing, creating opportunities and recording my lifelong journey as a health visitor.

The national speakers (George Hosking, Professor Sarah Cowley, Dame Elizabeth Fradd, Viv Bennett, Kelley Webb-Martin) spoke with a passion about our profession which I had not heard before at this level.

Their wisdom and evidenced presentations gave me food for thought, and current research which will impact the way in which I currently practice. Each speaker graciously acknowledged the amazing and hard work that is being achieved throughout the country by HVs who are positively impacting the next generations.
