Kevin Lowe is Head of Consultancy Services at the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT). He manages CAPT’s training and consultancy work (www.CAPT.org.uk).
Kevin has been at CAPT since 2013. He led CAPT’s work with Public Health England (PHE) and RoSPA in developing its guidance to local authorities, Reducing unintentional injuries among children under five years in 2014 and also worked with PHE in 2015 on its guidance for accident prevention for Healthy Child Programme practitioners.
Kevin’s early professional career was in social work with children, families and adults. Over the past 25 years, in training and charity management roles, he has focused on supporting professional development in fostering, working with adolescents, and accident prevention. He wrote a preparation programme for foster carers that was used throughout the UK for a decade and developed the prison service’s staff training module on working with young people which was part of its core programme for 10 years.
Kevin has collaborated with the Institute of Health Visiting (iHV) on the production of a range of accident prevention learning resources, including e-learning modules, Good Practice Points for Health Visitors and Parent Tips on safety topics and the new Accident Prevention Health Visitor training pack.
