Join us for our iHV Insights webinar ‘Strengthening Safeguarding Practice: Professional Curiosity and Confident Challenge’ on Thursday 26 March 2026 (join from 3:15pm to allow a prompt start) 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
This is open to all iHV members.
This session will explore the essential safeguarding skills of professional curiosity and professional challenge – two areas frequently highlighted as lacking within Serious Case Review recommendations.
We will explore how these concepts translate into everyday practice and the complex realities of safeguarding babies, children, and families, with expert contributions from the following safeguarding leaders:
- Louise Mann – Director, National Safeguarding Service, Public Health Wales
- Annette Blackstock – Deputy Director, National Safeguarding Service, Public Health Wales
- Liz Plastow – Safeguarding consultant and iHV Fellow
- Marcia Smikle – Head of Safeguarding Children, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Visiting Lecturer at City University London & Queens Nurse
The webinar will also highlight how effective safeguarding leadership and high‑quality safeguarding supervision provide health visitors with the reflective space needed to analyse uncertainty, share concerns, and strengthen decision‑making. Emphasis will be placed on how supervision supports practitioners to navigate complexity, maintain professional curiosity, and ultimately enhance the safety and wellbeing of babies, children and families.
Finally, Dr Michelle Moseley, iHV, Director of Programmes, will share details about our iHV Safeguarding Supervision Champions Training, outlining how this offer supports organisations and practitioners to strengthen their safeguarding culture and build confidence in leading high‑quality supervision.
The webinar will be recorded and will be available after the event on our website to iHV members who are unable to join the webinar live.
