Our Infant Mental Health programme was developed just as the importance of children’s emotional wellbeing received its current high profile and cross party political support (Leadsom, 2013). Within the 1001 Critical Days Manifesto, the importance of early intervention has been highlighted and widely accepted. Underpinning the mental health and wellbeing of babies has now been underlined as a public health priority.

Facilitator: Angela Underdown

Dr Angela Underdown is a researcher and health visitor specialising in the perinatal period. Angela was Associate Professor of Public Health in the Early Years and Deputy Director of Warwick Infant and Family Wellbeing Unit at the University of Warwick Medical School, where she was involved in research and teaching about Infant Mental Health.
