Begin Before Birth

There is good evidence that the development of the fetus in the womb, and of the child in the first few years, can affect health for the rest of life.

Internationally-renowned experts will discuss new evidence concerning the effects of perinatal mental health and obesity during pregnancy on the neurodevelopment and behaviour of the child.

There will be presentations about the effectiveness of early interventions, a new programme for couples experiencing domestic violence, and the potential benefits of music.

The afternoon session will include a talk about postnatal psychosis and the role of obstetricians by Professor Lesley Regan, current President of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
